Universal Entertainment Platinum MasterCard from Chase Review
The Universal Entertainment Platinum MasterCard from Chase is designed for those with very good credit who plan to take advantage of the reward program offered.
Through the reward program, cardholders earn one point for every dollar spent on general purchases and two points per dollar spent at Universal properties. Points may be redeemed for movie and concert tickets, private movie screenings, CDs, DVDs, and other entertainment merchandise. The maximum number of points that may be earned in a billing period must not exceed the cardholder's credit limit and any unused points do expire within five years. Cardholders also receive four free movie tickets with their first purchase.
Aside from the reward program, cardholders will receive up to $500,000 in travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance, and various discounts at participating merchants and retailers. The card also provides a unique benefit because it allows cardholders access to exclusive opportunities and the chance to win tickets for various entertainment award events, backstage passes, a customized entertainment library, etc.
There is no annual fee and the interest rate for purchases and balance transfers is reasonable for a reward card (for those who qualify), but it is not ideal for those who plan to carry a balance due to the finance charges that may apply. There is a 0% introductory rate offered for purchases and balance transfers that is available for the first six months of membership.
However, finance charges applied use the "Two Cycles Average Daily Balance" method, which is a more costly method in applying finance charges for those who occasionally carry a balance, in comparison to the "Average Daily Balance" method used by most card issuers.
Therefore, those who qualify for the lowest rate offered and plan to take advantage of the reward program will benefit most from what the Universal Entertainment Platinum MasterCard from Chase has to offer.
