GM Business Card Review

The GM Business Card, issued by Chase, is designed for business owners who own or plan to purchase or lease a new GM vehicle in the near future and would like to earn rebates for many business expenditures including gasoline.

Through the reward program, cardholders earn a 3% rebate on fuel purchases at the pump, at restaurants, office supply stores, and at authorized GM dealers on GM parts and service. Cardholders also earn a 1% rebate on all other purchases. There is no limit on the amount of rebates that cardholders can earn or redeem on eligible GM vehicles, parts, and service. Cardholders also get a $600 statement credit every time they purchase or lease an eligible new GM vehicle.

The interest rate for purchases and balance transfers is reasonable and there is no annual fee. This card also offers an attractive 0% introductory rate on purchases and balance transfers for the first twelve billing cycles.

Those who plan to occasionally carry a large revolving balance may find doing so costly due to the "Two Cycles Average Daily Balance" method used by this credit card to determine finance charges, which ends up costing more to maintain an occasional balance as compared to the "Average Daily Balance" method used by many credit card issuers.

The GM Business Card does provide cardholders with many cardholder benefits such as up to $1,000,000 in travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance, extended warranties on purchases, and lost and stolen card reporting.

Therefore, those who plan to pay in full each month after the introductory rate expires (to avoid finance charges) and plan to take advantage of the reward program will benefit most from what the GM Business Card has to offer.
