Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card Review

The Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card, issued by American Express, is designed for businesses with good credit who would like to earn free travel for business related expenses and travel regularly on Delta Airlines.

Cardholders receive one mile for every dollar spent on general purchases and two miles for every dollar spent at participating retailers and merchants (including Delta Air Lines and Song related purchases). Cardholders also earn 15,000 bonus miles upon their first purchase. Miles do not have an expiration date (if the account is active within a three-year period), and a yearly limit of $100,000 in eligible spending applies. Miles earned can be used in conjunction with Delta's frequent flyer program.

Cardholders can also participate in a current promotion that allows them to earn double miles on all purchases through August 31, 2006, for up to 20,000 miles (cardholders must register at americanexpress.com/deltabonus to qualify for this promotion).

Although there is a high annual fee of $85, it is waived for the first year and is reduced to $30 for those who have a Business Gold Card, Executive Business Card, Business Platinum Card, or Business Centurion Card. The APR for purchases and balance transfers is high for a business card and above average for an airline reward card. Therefore, it is not ideal for those who plan to carry a revolving balance. However, there is a 9.99% introductory rate offered that applies to balance transfers until they are paid in full.

Cardholders can also expect many common benefits and services from the card, such as travel accident insurance, several purchase protection related services, and discounts at participating merchants and retailers.

Therefore, those who will use the card at participating retailers and merchants (to accumulate additional miles) and plan to pay in full each month (to avoid finance charges) will benefit most from what the Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card has to offer.
